In many series there are characters who act as leaders, government officials, elders to tribes and even trainers for a whole group. While often some authority figures are either bad or just too strict there are occasionally some leaders who are considered reasonable by many due to the actions and choices they makes and how many like them for such decisions or find them good decisions.

For how I rank these authority figures these are the things I'm looking for:
~Choices that break the rules when the rules are often more bad than good
~Considering morals over what seems absolute
~Showing mercy when it can be given
~Only punishing for something that deserves it
~Not just standing from the sidelines
~Being a role model to those under them
~Admitting to their mistakes

Two new things I'm gonna start doing with these top 10s from here are add pictures and add tied spots where I'll put two in one place if I couldn't decide on one over the other for the spot.

10. Accel World - Blue Knight and Green Grande

In the Accel World series there are 6 (formerly 7) Duel Avatars who represent the purest form of each color, and out of these 6 these two are the ones I've seen show reasonable authority. I wasn't able to decide which seemed better so they tied for this spot, now as for what makes them reasonable... in the case of Blue Knight its when he's seen that earns his reasonable authority title. Each king leads a legion of players, and can remove players who break their rules using what's called the "judgment blow" which automatically deletes them from the game, when one of the main characters known as Cyan Pile in the game wishes to leave his legion despite that he in a sense would be betraying them, after hearing Cyan's reasons he decided to let him leave his legion without using the Judgment Blow.

While for Green Grande's case it comes from a fight he had with the main hero, Green Grande's a super defensive type that can only lose in time battles (according to other players), and during a fight with the protagonist Haru he was clearly going to win, but when Haru manages to deal just a small scratch of 3 cm that deals no damage... he forfeits and says Silver Crow wins. That's honor if I've ever seen it, he knew he'd win and Silver Crow's attack was proof he had every advantage, but just for the fact Silver Crow even managed to hit him was enough he acknowledged him and gave him the victory, and this becomes even more impressive by the fact that Green Grandee is considered the best player in the entire Brain Burst world. As such I find both of them reasonable figures, the only reason they're low on the list is there's still very little we've seen of them, and to a degree they're antagonists as the goal of the game requires all 6 kings to be defeated.

9. B-Daman Crossfire - Grandpa Takakura

In D-Daman Crossfire the sport of B-Daman begins to take storm across the world, the biggest mystery some players hear about is a secret tournament that only chosen B-Shots get to enter. This tournament is called Crossfire, and said B-Shots have B-Daman that can speak. Grandpa Takakura is the one in charge of Crossfire and by extension the head of the WBMA. He made Crossfire in order to see if he could find the mystery of these B-Daman as he likely had a good feeling there might be dangers behind them, what makes him a reasonable authority figure is he listens to the Crossfire players' opinions. Such as allowing late players to play as long as they didn't miss their turn, giving chances when someone feels there's something unfair, and he even trusts them under dire situations. Later on the danger of talking B-Daman gets revealed due to the manipulations of one player, and its because of what the WBMA had already found out that helped the heroes get the chance they needed. He's ranked at only 9th on the list because we didn't get to see that much of him.

8. One Piece - Whitebeard/Edward Newgate

Edward Newgate, better known as Whitebeard of the Whitebeard pirates, is a solidized reasonable authority figure if I've seen one. He treats all the members of his crew like his own children, and despite being incredibly old he's also what you'd call a badass granpda cause he's labeled the strongest man in the world and has the power to make tremors like crazy with his Tremor Tremor fruit! In the end, he dies protecting all of his children (minus Ace who's killed in battle) and his narration makes his status shine bright: "Even in death, his body did not fall. His figure, taking down enemies while losing half of his head, was truly monstrous. The total number of sword wounds he received in this battle was 267. He was shot by 152 bullets. And was hit by 46 cannonballs. And despite all this, his proud back, over the course of his entire life as a pirate, never received a single scar from running away!" The only reason I have him at 8th is because I've seen a few characters who've impressed me more, and he made one bad choice with Ace that ended up causing Ace and them himself to die, despite that he's still a good leader.

I wouldn't really call consider Whitebeard to be a Reasonable Authority Figure. While good to his men and allies, he didn't really heed Shanks's warning on Blackbeard. In the end, Blackbeard's plan came into fruition where he recruited the most dangerous and forgotten inmates of Impel Down, resign from the Shichibukai (7 Warlords), used his powers to copy Whitebeard's Tremor Tremor fruit abilities, and took Whitebeard's place as one of the Yonko (4 Emperors).
